26 CHEQUE OVERPAYMENT FRAUD This can be said to have happened when an individual makes payment by issuing a fake cheque to a business for goods or services. The amount stated on the cheque paper is usually in excess of the actual value, and the business will be made to refund the excess amount. This can also happen when the fraudster pays with fake currency (by cash) Report to:
1. Financial institution
2. Economic and Financial Crimes

27 CHILD BENEFIT FRAUD An individual intentionally gives an incorrect information to claim benefits they are not entitled to. For instance claiming that he or she has a child, and that child was born in Nigeria to make the child or its parent entitled to a benefit when in fact the child was born in Ghana. Report to:
1. Nigeria Police Force
2. National Health Insurance Scheme
3. Federal Ministry of Health
28 CLAIRVOYANT SCAM This happens when an individual is approached by a fraudster claiming to be one who can see the future and is informed by such person that he has seen that misfortunes are about to befall him and he should pay a certain amount to tell him and if possible have it adverted. Report to:
1. Nigeria Police Force
2. Relevant religious bodies such as Christian Association of Nigerian or Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs
29 CLICK FRAUD This is when fraudsters intentionally and continually click on a pay-per-click advert, thereby inflating a company advertising bill. The advertising company will then be paying for adverts not used properly. Report to:
1. Nigeria Communications Commission
30 COMPANIES – SHELL AND SHELF This happens when a fraudster sets up a shell company or hijacks a legitimate company to engage in fraudulent activities such as money laundering. Report to:
1. Federal Ministry Of Industry Trade and Investment.
2. Corporate Affairs Commission
3. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
4. Nigeria Police Force
