The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested two men, who allegedly specialised in vandalising electricity transformers in Obinagu community in Udi Local Government Area. The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, stated this in a statement issued on Friday in Enugu, adding that the suspects were arrested on Aug. 25.
Amaraizu noted that the arrest was made by operatives of Udi Divisional Police Station, following a tip off from members of the community. He commended the neighbourhood watch for its role in ensuring the arrest of the suspects who, he said, had put the community in darkness.
He said: “On Aug. 25, police operatives nabbed one Chigozie Nwamba over his suspected nefarious activities, ranging from vandalising transformer accessories and cables located around St. Dominic Catholic Church, Obinagu. “Following his confession, police also arrested his cohort, identified as Chibuike Igbokwe. “The suspects are helping the police in their investigations regarding their nefarious activities.’’ The police spokesman said that items recovered from the suspects included cables and the tools used in cutting them.
