The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has stated that some bankers steal and launder public funds for corrupt politicians and terrorists, and internet fraudsters.
The Chairman also noted that the banks help internet fraudsters commit financial crimes using money transfer services.
He revealed that the banks also help the politically exposed persons to steal and launder public funds. He also noted that measures will be put up to deal with such fraudulent activities of the bankers and some law enforcement agencies.
Magu made this claim on Friday during a meeting with compliance officers of different banks in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
