The Kogi State Police Command yesterday paraded 25 suspects arrested over offences bordering on kidnapping, banditry, car snatching and attacks on the Fulani in some parts of the state recently. Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Busari, who paraded the suspects, said the arrests were made possible through the effort of the operatives of “Operation Puff Adder” launched by the Inspector General of Police.
He said four suspects, Alhaji Hassan, Usman Arome, Ogwu and Yakubu Stanlius were arrested at Ulara in Dekina LGA of the state over attacks on some Fulani. He said some herders who were passing through stopped over to break their fast and in the process some hoodlums attacked them, adding that police operatives thereafter arrested the aforementioned suspects.
Similarly, five suspects, Adamu Hassan, Umar Salihu, Ibrahim Musa, Usman Abubakar and Muhammad Bello, who had allegedly been involved in series of kidnapping and armed robbery activities along the Kabba-Obajana road were arrested. CP Busari said following a tip off, the duo of Martin Igwe and Emeka Okeke of Felele area of Lokoja who specialised in removing vehicle parts were also arrested.
Also paraded for armed robbery were the trio of Aliyu Sule, Danjuma Isah and Musa Seidu who were reportedly arrested at Ganaja Village while in possession of firearms. Among the exhibits recovered from the suspects include two pump action guns, single-barrel guns, live cartridges, one Honda car, one Camry car, a plasma TV, a decoder, vehicle parts and assorted handsets. CP Busari said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
