The suspected mastermind of the abduction of Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf, the mother-in-law of Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, yesterday, narrated how he received N2.5 million out of the N30 million ransom they collected.
The suspect, Abubakar M. Sani alias Kubi (23), of Sokoto Rima Quarters in Katsina, said after the operation the victim was traded to another group of bandits who operated at Batsari Forest. I never knew who she was. I was passing around the area and saw people sharing political souvenirs.
When we executed the operation, one of our friends has contacts in the forest where we took her and handed her over to them. Of the 30m paid as ransom, I was paid N2.5m, while my two friends received N2m each, he added. The state Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, had earlier mentioned Abubakar Dani alias Dan Bose of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina; Rabe Hamza alias Tankabaje of Nasarawa Bugaje, Jibia; Marwana Gide of Yar-Maiwa village and Abdulhakim Bishir alias Danruma of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters in Katsina as members of the team that carried out the operation.
