HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Court Remands Man in Prison Over Human Trafficking in Benin

Nigeria is a source, transit, and destination country for women and children subjected to trafficking in persons including forced labor and forced prostitution. Trafficked Nigerian women and children are recruited from rural areas within the country’s borders – women and girls for involuntary domestic servitude and sexual exploitation, and boys for forced labor in street vending, domestic servitude, mining, and begging. Human Trafficking is a way to exploit women and children for cheap labor and prostitution as an opportunity to help themselves out of poverty. The Center for Counter Fraud Awareness (CCFA) is committed to raising awareness through its Preventive Programme for Schools Initiative where schools are visited and children and youths are exposed to the dangers associated with human trafficking.
