Twenty (20) suspected cultists have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for their involvement in ‘supremacy battle’ on Saturday and Sunday in Ijora area of the state.
Although no death was recorded, more policemen were deployed in the area to restore normalcy. It was reported that the gangs had been fighting themselves for some time and the cultists had been exchanging gunfire since the evening of the governorship election in Ijora.
This social malaise is having negative effects on the educational and moral standards of students. Innocent ones are being lured into devious groups, and ultimately into vices such as drug abuse, armed robbery, murder and so on. It is imperative on the part of parents, school authorities, religious groups, government and non-governmental organizations and agencies to let all hands be on deck to combat this ugly trend.
